For those who have gone All In with God, your reward will be greater, because you have obeyed:
“Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Matthew 19:27-30
It takes everything to follow Christ. The cost of discipleship is high. There’s suffering, loss, hurt, pain, rejection and more. But none of it is in vain. God promises that those who have forsaken all to follow Him will be blessed and be gifted with eternal life. Reread the above passage. Do you recall Peter, a fisherman. He was greatly rewarded, and blessed so much so that he had to share the blessing. Peter was a fisherman, and one day, he had gone out ‘for a catch’. But after trying all night to no avail, he was seen by Jesus:
“So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.”
Luke 5:1-11
Peter obeyed and he was blessed for his obedience. He had already begun to wash his nets, which signals that he was done for the day, but Jesus spoke and he obeyed. He and those connected to him were blessed. Who are you connected to, that is in need of a blessing? They will be blessed because of your obedience. They will not have done anything to receive it, except being connected to you. How great is our God?! You’ve prayed and asked God to bless you so that you may be a blessing to others. And your prayers are about to be answered. Look out for the reward, it is coming! Do not throw in the towel. You’ve obeyed, it’s coming!
